The Floor was delighted to host The Hammer and Tongue regional Hackney Poetry Slam finals during lockdown 2020. Nine winners came together for an epic, three round battle - you can view the Regional Final here..

Hammer & Tongue started in Oxford in 2002 and has become the biggest network of slam poetry in the UK, operating in six different cities. It remains true to its original ethos, promoting the best in live poetry and providing a platform to make champions out of everyday people.

Emerging at the start of the current wave in spoken word, Hammer & Tonguewas among those organisations in the UK which made poetry nights entertaining again, The Guardian declared that Hammer & Tonguehad 'reinvented the medium for the hip hop generation.’
